This wine is a fantastic follow up from the Groth 2015 Reserve, with its darker fruit, cassis, black cherries and dark plums, along with dusty chocolate, tobacco leaf and cracked black pepper. The palate was medium-bodied, yet still reserved, with darker and purer fruit along with firm but structured tannins, dusty cocoa and savoury herbs giving a long-structured finish. This wine needs time: in 5 to 8 years it will be a superstar.

Food pairing:

Lamb Ribs | Seared beef | Beets

Alexander recipe suggestions:

Asian BBQ lamb ribs

Blue cheeseburger with caramelized onions

Roasted beet salad with shallots and black walnuts
