How Alexander describes Moss Wood
"Moss Wood is located in Margaret River, Western Australia, an under the radar Australian wine region. Moss Wood is always included in Langton's Top Australian Wines and shows the fantastic region which is Margaret River. Clare and Keith Mugford have been at the helm since 1985 and the wines are better than ever. Their wines are estate grown, sustainable and benchmark Margaret River"
Moss Wood is located in Margaret River, Western Australia, and is one of Australia's top wine regions. Margaret River is less well known compared to its more famous Australian cousins of Barossa, Coonawarra and Yarra Valley, however, their wines are becoming more and more sort after. Margaret River produces fantastic white and red wines which tend to be extremely elegant, with refined tannins and full of character. Moss Wood was founded in 1969 and since 1985 has been run by Clare and Keith Mugford. Claire and Keith are focused on producing some world-class French varietals at their home Moss Wood vineyard, yet since 2000 they have owned the Ribbon Vale Vineyard. This addition produces a variety of wines with both their Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon-Semillon blends a standout. What I appreciate about their winemaking is the focus on quality, how their grapes are full estate grown, and they focus their attention in the vineyard and not in the cellar.
